Grand Theft Auto 5 Has a Teen Wolf Easter Egg

Grand Theft Auto 5 Has a Teen Wolf Easter Egg

The developers at Rockstar Games put an Easter egg into Grand Theft Auto 5 that references the Teen Wolf movie from the 1980s starring Michael J. Fox.

From its Festive Surprises to the recently added Power Play mode of which stretches the bounds of realism, there’s no question that Grand Theft Auto 5 has had its fair share of eccentric oddities crop up in the title since its release almost three years ago. On top of these bizarre features being out in the open, though, no video game nowadays is complete without a few actual Easter eggs, and Grand Theft Auto 5 is replete with them as well, with the latest one to be found being a reference to Teen Wolf.

Although initially encountered in “Hunt the Beast,” which is one of Grand Theft Auto 5‘s Freemode Events for its online component that selects a random player to become what is essentially a werewolf and prompts others to track it down, fans have now discovered that the main game actually contains an Easter egg featuring the “beast,” which is an allusion to the main character of 1985’s Teen Wolf starring Michael J. Fox. Interestingly enough, the hidden trinket isn’t just a visual reference, but a playable one, as it puts fans in a position to defeat the Teen Wolf.

As seen in the walk-through video courtesy of GTA Series Videos below, this particular Grand Theft Auto 5 Easter egg is enacted after the collection of seven golden peyote plants, which puts players in the role of Sasquatch and pits them against the Teen Wolf in a battle of brawn. However, in order for the secret to officially become triggered, fans must have first completed the game at 100%, finished the Strangers & Freaks mission “The Last One,” and collected all 27 peyote plants.

Should Grand Theft Auto 5 players go on to defeat what the game calls the “Wild Animal,” then he and the Sasquatch will be unlocked in the Director Mode. As is to be expected, though, doing so will be easier said than done, as the Teen Wolf is not only incredibly strong, but also quite swift, as its abilities are obviously of the supernatural variety.

Interestingly enough, this isn’t the first time for fans to come across a delightful nod to Sasquatch either. As a matter of fact, it was several months ago when frequent gamers of Grand Theft Auto 5 discovered an in-game secret allowing players to become Bigfoot and trundle around the Los Santos terrain. Of course, this latest find featuring the Teen Wolf only adds another layer to the fun.

In any event, the story mode of Grand Theft Auto 5 has loads of charming little novelties and in-jokes like these tucked away throughout the game. Should some fans be stumped as to where they can find the rest, perhaps it would be best to check out our Easter eggs and secrets guide. Maybe along the way, some fans will unearth even more hidden gems.

Grand Theft Auto 5 is out now and is available for PC, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
